Another Day Closer to the Synchrony Lyft Credit Card Ribbon Cutting – Here’s What We Know

Synchrony bank is not revered among the miles & points community for its selection of valuable credit cards.

Just look through our list of the best credit cards, and you won’t find a single one issued by Synchrony.  That doesn’t bode well for the coming Lyft credit card.

Instead of the Rental Car, Consider Using Lyft to get Around Instead. This Will be Convenient and Earn You Bonus Points This Quarter
If You’re a Lyft Addict, You’re Looking Forward to an Upcoming Credit Card Issued by Synchrony

For over a year, we’ve known of Lyft’s plan to partner with a bank and introduce a credit card of its own.  There was no mention of a release date, any card benefits, or even a potential card issuer.

Fifteen months later, and we now know that Synchrony will be issuing the Lyft credit card.  That’s the first (and still the only) detail to be released about the card.

Hopefully the benefits will at least match Uber’s credit card from Barclays, which was released almost exactly 1 year ago.  That card gives you things like:

  • 4% back for dining purchases
  • 3% back for hotels and airfare
  • 2% back for Uber rides and certain online purchases

The one silver lining in this card issuer revelation is that lots of us in this hobby don’t have many (if any) Synchrony issued credit cards.  So if you’ve already got lots of other cards from major banks like AMEX and Chase, this could potentially be another opportunity to earn free travel with a welcome offer and new bonus categories.

But if you’re new to the hobby, you should be applying for one of these better cards instead.  You’ll still get bonus points for using cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card.

What benefits do you expect to see with the upcoming Synchrony Lyft credit card?
