Another Hyatt Coming to the Caribbean – Stay in This Popular Country With Hotel Points for the First Time Ever
In my experience with the Caribbean, Saint Lucia is one of the most captivating destinations, both aesthetically and culturally. It’s also one of the most prohibitively expensive islands for miles & points enthusiasts, as there are literally ZERO hotel chains in the country you can book with points.
I wrote a quick trip report of my visit to Saint Lucia last year. And some commenters pointed out that while it’s easy to reach the island for free by using miles & points you earn from cards like the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® or the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card, you won’t find any hotel chains once you land.
But that’s about to change thanks to Hyatt!
Invest Saint Lucia has purchased land at Choc Beach in the island’s northern region. And they’re building a 400-room Hyatt hotel!
The hotel will offer both regular and all-inclusive rates. And if it’s anything like Hyatt’s current all-inclusive resorts, such as the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara in Cancun, it will be very affordable with points! You can reserve a free night at those hotels for just 25,000 Hyatt points per night.
You can earn Hyatt points directly by opening The World Of Hyatt Credit Card. Or you can earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points with cards like the Ink Business Preferred (our #1 small business card pick) or the Chase Sapphire Preferred, (our #1 card for beginners) and transfer them to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio!
Construction on this Hyatt hotel is scheduled to begin late 2019.
Note: If you have cards like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®, you can use your miles to pay for just about ANY travel purchase. Including hotels that don’t have a loyalty program, like the ones you find in Saint Lucia.
