More Negative Citi Prestige Changes, Targeted AMEX Authorized User Bonus, and a JetBlue Flash Sale Starting at $20 One-Way!
1. Negative Changes Coming to the Citi Prestige Card!
In the past few years, Citi Prestige cardholders have slowly seen their card benefits whittled away. First, they lost American Airlines Admirals Club access. Then the card’s ThankYou points became less valuable when used to pay for flights through the Citi ThankYou Portal.
And now, the Citi Prestige card’s trip delay perk will become MUCH less generous.
In the past, the benefit covered certain flights that were delayed 3+ hours. But on July 29, 2018, the delay will need to be at least 6 hours for you to qualify for a reimbursement.
Also, while the perk used to cover you and any travel companions, with these changes, it will only cover you and family members traveling with you.
Several other benefits on the Citi Prestige card will be getting changes as well. The price rewind perk will go from having a per item benefit limit of $500 and a $2,500 maximum payout per calendar year to a $200 per item limit and only a $1,000 per calendar year pay out limit.
Once the changes go into effect, this benefit will no longer apply to lower priced items found at a warehouse club where the merchant requires customers to pay a membership fee. And other items are excluded, like consumables, tires, watches, firearms, and ammunition.
2. Targeted AMEX Authorized User Bonuses!
Via Frequent Miler, check your mail because AMEX is targeting some folks for generous authorized user bonuses. The mailer they found is for the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express. But it’s possible there are others out there for different AMEX cards.
You can earn 5,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points for each authorized user you add who spends $500 on eligible purchases in first 3 months of card membership. There is a limit of 20,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points you can earn through this promotion.
You also might be able to find this offer if you log into your AMEX account. But either way, you’ll need to be targeted to get this deal. This offer ends August 31, 2018.
Also, the authorized user card will count toward that person’s Chase “5/24” limit, but NOT the original cardholder’s “5/24” limit. Some folks have had success calling and getting Chase to ignore authorized user accounts, if that is the only thing putting you over “5/24.” But there’s no guarantee that will work for you.
